2008 Volkswagen Jetta S PZEV Summary
The 2008 Volkswagen Jetta S PZEV is exactly like the regular S version, except that its version of the 2.5-liter DOHC inline-five engine classifies it as a low-emission vehicle in states that require those adopted standards. And as an added bonus, it maintains the newly boosted 170 hp and 177 ft-lbs of torque of the non-PZEV version. Drivers have a choice of a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic in this front-wheel-drive midsize sedan.
The 2008 Jetta S PZEV seats four, with 41 inches of legroom up front and 35 in the back. An armrest doubles as a trunk pass-through, and the rear seats split-fold 60/40, opening onto the 16-cubic-foot trunk. A power outlet in the cargo area is standard, with the option to add a cargo net and tiedowns. Power windows, locks, and mirrors, remote entry, heated mirrors, cruise control, intermittent wipers, a two-way power driver's seat, and a CD player with MP3 input are all standard. So is a front power outlet, a tachometer, temperature display, velour upholstery, and tilt and telescopic steering. Options add heated front seats and a sunroof. If you're looking to add some flash, a front and rear spoiler, ground effects, and side sills are available in a sport package.
The sedan rides on 16-inch steel wheels with all-season tires, but sportier 17-inch alloy wheels are available. The Macpherson strut front and multilink rear suspension is given extra security by the standard 4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, front and rear stabilizer bars, and traction control. Stability control is optional. Dual front-side and side curtain airbags in the front row can be supplemented by optional rear curtain airbags. A tire monitor, security system, daytime running lights, and mirrors with turn signals help establish the strong safety profile of the 2008 Jetta S PZEV.
