2008 Toyota Matrix Base

The entry-level Toyota Matrix Base model comes with a stripped-down list of standard features for 2008. Ideal for value-minded buyers looking for a vehicle that has the characteristics of a small SUV, the five-door Matrix Base offers plenty of cargo space and such standard features as four-way adjustable front seats, a 60/40 split fold-down rear bench seat, a fold-flat passenger seat, a three-spoke steering wheel with a stepless tilt column, a tire pressure monitoring system, and a four-speaker AM/FM stereo system with a CD player.

In the rear cargo bay, the Matrix offers eight adjustable tie-down hooks, an under-deck storage compartment, two cargo nets, and a tonneau cover.

Under the Matrix's hood, a 126-horsepower, 1.8-liter, double-overhead-cam four-cylinder engine provides adequate but not overwhelming power.
