2005 Land Rover LR3 SE V-6 Summary

This is the entry level offering in the new Land Rover LR3 lineup.  The SE is powered by a 4.0 liter V6, which produces 216 horsepower and 269 pound-feet of torque.  Fuel economy is estimated at 14/19 mpg with this engine.  Power is routed to all four wheels through an adaptable six-speed automatic transmission.  Land Rover's advanced Terrain Response 4WD system allows drivers to select one of five settings (general, snow-grass-gravel, mud and ruts, sand, and rock crawl).  Each setting includes special adjustments for throttle response, stability control, and the differentials.

SE standard features include leather seating, walnut trim, full power accessories, heated mirrors, fold-flat rear seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, and a nine-speaker 240-watt Harman Kardon audio system with a six-disc CD changer.  Safety items like adaptive headlights ABS, traction control, active antiroll technology, hill-descent control, side-impact curtain airbags and an electronic parking brake are also included.

The cargo area holds up to 90 cubic feet, and a roof rack is standard.  A trailer hitch can be added to tow up to tow 7700 pounds.  Interior features include a full power setup, CD player, tilt steering wheel, heated mirrors, front and rear wipers, a tachometer, and security system.  There is a long list of options that include heated leather seats, power front seats, a fixed and power sunroof, navigation system, parking sensors, auto-dimming rearview mirror, wheel-mounted audio controls, heated wipers, an in-console cooler, trip computer, xenon headlights, and rear climate control.  The 2005 LR3 SE V6 is built for off-roading, yet drivers say it adapts well to city driving.  The V6 is not well-suited for this heavy SUV, however, and the fuel economy isn't much better than with the V8s.
