2005 Subaru Outback Sport Summary

The base or "stripped-down" version of the Subaru Outback, the Outback Sport is sometimes listed under the Impreza lineup.  They all share the same platform, but the Sport has the Outback suspension and higher ride height. The all-wheel drive compact SUV seats four and comes with a new 2.5-liter H4 engine that gets 165-hp and comes with either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto tran.  4-wheel disc and ABS brakes, an independent suspension, limited slip center differential, foglights, and 16-inch alloy wheels help with road handling and safety.  Dual front-side airbags are standard, but side curtain bags are not offered.

Rear seats in the 2005 Subaru Outback Sport split-fold to expand the 28 cubic foot trunk to 66 cubic feet.  A roof rack is standard if you need more room, and an optional trailer hitch allows you to tow 2000 pounds.  Full power features, cruise control, intermittent front and rear wipers, leather shifter trim, a CD player, tilt steering, and a tachometer make you forget this is a base model.  The 2005 Outback Sport can be outfitted with a rear spoiler, auto-dimming rearview mirror, skid plates, and a security system.  Great handling, safety, and AWD grip in snow are big draws for drivers, but they complain about the legroom and uncomfortable seats.
