What made a Touring trim so tuned for touring? In Lincoln's eyes the answer was higher performance and a somewhat sportier feel. This was brought on by an array of specially tuned components and configurations (including a shorter axle ratio and firmer suspension) that worked together to boost horsepower on the 4.6-liter V8 from 220 to 235.
An extra helping of bells and whistles played a part, too. The Premium Touring trim's list of standards boasted genuine wood trim inside, plus a sunroof. In addition, the top-shelf audio system came with a CD player (with changer) and a bass-boosting subwoofer to please the music-lovers. To absolutely have it all, the Premium Touring trim purchaser could have opted for mud guards, a full-sized spare, and daytime running lights.
