This was the absolute top-of-line of the twelve 2006 4Runner models, incorporating the Limited trim finish, V-8 engine, and 4x4 drive train. Toyota revamped all 4Runner models for 2006, adding new front and rear bumpers, a bolder grille, color-keyed side cladding, projector beam headlights, and LED taillights.
The Limited trims were all fitted with new 18 inch wheels during this styling update.
On this model, a 4.7 liter DOHC V-8 is employed to power the 4x4 drive train. This engine delivers 260 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque, and is teamed with an electronically controlled five speed automatic transmission. The V-8 models see a slight decrease in fuel economy down from 17/21 to 15/19 mpg, but towing capacity jumps from 5000 to 7300 pounds thanks to the extra torque.
Limited trim enhancements for the already well-appointed 4Runner include illuminated running boards, a memory function for the driver's seat, dual zone automatic climate control, leather, and heated front seats. Navigation with Bluetooth and a rear seat DVD entertainment system are optional on this model.
