2003 Lincoln Navigator Premium 4WD Summary
Fuel economy suffers a tad on a 4x4 compared to what its 2WD counterpart achieves, in this case an estimated one mile per gallon both in the city and on the highway (12 city/17 highway for the 4x2 and 11 city/16 highway for the 4x4). But youâ??d be hard-pressed to find an owner of the four-wheeler who regretted that choice, especially on a snowy day.
The Navigator Premium 4x4 is certainly not a common sight on the trail, nor is it meant to be, but it does have the traditional 4x4 set-up rather than the all-wheel drive system you might expect on a large, luxury vehicle. This means that it has four settings: 2 High, 4 High, 4 Low, and Automatic 4WD.
This mid-level trim offered advantages over the base-model Luxury trim. Heaters and coolers for the front seats became standard equipment along with high-intensity gas-discharged headlamps, and stability and traction control. A navigation system, power moonroof, and chrome wheels joined the list of available options.
Drivers of the â??03 Navigator Premium 4x4 touted its good handling, especially in poor weather, and its attention-getting size and appearance. Theyâ??d have been pleased to get more miles per gallon, although the SUVâ??s guzzling tendency came as no surprise to any of them.
