2006 BMW 530xi

New for 2006, the BMW 530xi four-door sedan was equipped with BMW's xDrive all-wheel-drive system, which improved the vehicle's agility and stability. Power was provided by an upgraded 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder with variable valve timing, which pushed horsepower to 255.

A six-speed manual transmission was standard, while a six-speed automatic overdrive transmission was optional.

Standard features for the 530xi included such driver-assistance features as Hill Ascent Assist, Braking Assist, stability control, and traction control.

Beyond that, the 530xi was well-equipped with an extensive list of interior and exterior features, including a one-touch power sunroof, multi-zone climate control, adaptive headlights, heated exterior mirrors, wood interior trim, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, cruise control, 17-inch alloy wheels, an anti-theft alarm system, a full range of airbags, and an AM/FM stereo system with a CD player.

In addition, the software for the iDrive navigation system - which got numerous complaints in previous years - seems to have been tweaked to make it "less annoying."
