The Toyota Highlander is unchanged for this year. The mid-size crossover SUV shares a platform with the popular Camry sedan, and currently it is Toyota's best-selling SUV. There are now eight Highlander models available for 2006, with this model positioned at the top.
The Limited trim is set apart by a premium eight speaker JBL audio system, wood trim, third row seating, heated mirrors and automatic climate control. All trims include power accessories, keyless entry, air conditioning, and cruise control. A DVD-based navigation system and a rear seat DVD entertainment system are available options on the Limited.
The Limited is only available with the 3.3 liter V-6 engine, paired with a five speed automatic transmission. This VVT-i power plant provides 215 horsepower and 222 pound-feet of torque. The torque is too low for any serious load hauling: maximum towing capacity is just 3500 pounds when a special towing kit is added. The inclusion of AWD will lower fuel efficiency to 18/24 mpg.
