2007 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG Base

The 2007 Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG luxury sedan was powered by a 6.3-liter, 32-valve naturally aspirated V8 engine that produced 507 horsepower. It was linked to AMG's Speedshift 7G-Tronic seven-speed automatic transmission.

The E63 featured unique interior and exterior styling, courtesy of AMG, the automaker's in-house performance tuner. The car's AMG-designed exterior features included the front apron with lateral air outlets, rear apron, side skirts, dual twin chromed tailpipes, titanium grey 18-inch light-alloy five-spoke wheels, rear spoiler, and streamlined contours.

AMG shock absorbers and stabilizers provided responsive and precise handling, while internally ventilated composite brake discs provided superb stopping power.

Inside, ergonimically designed AMG leather sports seats were equipped with body-hugging side bolsters to provide comfort and maximum support even at the highest speeds. The interior also featured an ergonomic steering wheel equipped with audio controls and shift panels, so drivers could easily shift gears. A easy-to-read three-dial instrument cluster and brushed stainless steel sports pedals with non-slip rubber black pads helped spruce up the interior as well.

Other standard features included rack-and-pinion power steering, anti-lock brakes, a power sunroof, power windows, power door locks, dual front and side airbags, adaptive cruise control, and a 12-speaker Harmon/Kardon stereo system with a CD player, a CD changer, and satellite radio. A nagivation system was among the options.

As expected, drivers noted that the E63's power was impressive, as was its handling, styling, power, smooth ride, and quality workmanship. Some even noted that the E63 was in a class all its own, as Mercedes intended. On the downside, some noted brake problems, while others mentioned the car's low gas mileage, though this is probably to be expected in a car with a 500-horsepower V8 engine.
