The 2007 model year is the last chance to buy a brand new Jaguar S-Type.  Reminiscent of the saloons of the early 1960's, this uniquely styled sedan offered a welcome departure from the iconic XJ look.  This year, all S-Types receive some light interior refinishing, as new leather seat piping and wood finishes are added.  An adaptive cruise control system is also new.
The S-Type 4.2 model upgrades to a 4.2 liter DOHC V-8 engine, which produces 300 horsepower and 310 pound-feet of torque.  The cost to fuel efficiency is marginal, with gas mileage falling to 18/26 mpg. The larger engine is paired with the same six speed automatic transmission as all other models.  Jaguar claims a 0 to 60 mph time of 6.2 seconds for this model.  While the S is very powerful, road testers frequently comment that it is not a nimble as many of the German competitors.
The S-Type 4.2 automatically gets just about every luxury and convenience feature as standard.  This model differentiates from the 3.0 by adding front park control, xenon headlights, an upgraded sound system, and a DVD navigation system.
