The Jaguar S-Type enters its final year of production in 2007. After eight years without any significant redesign, the S is expected to be replaced in 2008 by the new XF. At about $15,000 less than its 4.2 liter R-Style kin, the 3.0 liter variation offers the cheapest route to S-Type ownership.
The only additions for 2007 are new piping on the seats, new walnut trim, and adaptive cruise control. This model is already equipped with full power accessories, a premium audio system, leather seats, a moon roof, and dual zone climate control. Options for this model include satellite radio and DVD-based navigation system.
This is only S-Type to be powered by a V-6. Both of the other models get a 4.2 liter V-8. The 3.0 liter six cylinder engine provides 235 horsepower and 216 pound-feet or torque, and it is mated to a six speed automatic transmission. The 3.0 is clearly the most fuel efficient S-Type, with mileage estimates of 19/28 mpg.
