2007 Toyota Tacoma 2.7L PreRunner Access Cab 2WD SB Summary
The Tacoma PreRunner presents as a seriously aggressive and capable 4x4, but it isn't. And that's not a bad thing. This PreRunner is just one of eighteen Tacoma variations, as Toyota aims to provide for every imaginable truck buyer. This model is designed to offer the look and the suspension of a trail-ready truck, but it only comes with two drive drive. That may sound odd, but its mere existence demonstrates that Toyota has found that some buyers want such a pickup. In fact, Toyota's website allows prospective buyers to build a Tacoma based on their needs. The PreRunner style is available with all cab sizes.
The PreRunner Access Cab is available with both engine options. This version will use the 2.7 liter DOHC inline four. This smaller engine provides the 3670 pound pickup with 159 horsepower and 180 pound feet of torque. The inclusion of the smaller engine and 2WD drive will improve fuel economy, raising the mpg average into the low 20s.
Tacoma's Access Cab, or the Double Cab on the Tundra, allows for easier access to the rear seats, thanks to two smaller suicide-style rear doors. The upgrade to the Access Cab from the modestly equipped regular cab body will add standard features like a six-speaker CD audio system and air conditioning. The 4-cylinder and 2WD combination limits the availability of performance-focused add-ons like the TRD Sport and Off-Road packages.
