[Edit] The differences between the 2001 MDX standard vehicle and the 2001 MDX touring SUV are very hard to decipher. It seems as though Acura had expected its customers to pay an extra $1000 or so to avoid the question of whether or not to purchase the optional CD changer. That's right, folks, the changer was an option in the lower-end standard 2001 MDX, but not the Touring trim.
Actually, the main differences between the two trims are alloy wheels, a roof rack, and a Bose stereo system in the Touring package. The Bose stereo received good reviews from drivers; the sound is well-distributed and crisp.
The engines are the same. The colors are the same. Towing is the same. The Touring weighs about 60 pounds less than the standard trim, even with the roof rack. If you like a bigger stereo, go for the Touring package.
