The Double Cab Tundra features suicide-style doors offering easier access to the more compact rear seats. In the first generation of the Tundra, this new feature was known as the Access Cab. SR5 is the middle tier trim level that adds several power features and finer exterior touches. The Limited option is more luxury-oriented. The 4x2 version is not available with the sport appearance options package.
All three engine options are available for the model, but this 4x2 SR5 Double Cab variation is powered by a 4.7 liter V-8. A continued engine from the first generation, this V-8 makes 271 horsepower and provides 313 pound-feet of torque. It is paired with a 5-speed automatic transmission, but Toyota plans to make the new six-speed automatic available as an option.
The Tundra received a total facelift for 2007, and has also grown larger. This version is 230 inches long, 80 inches wide, and 76 inches tall. A wider stance should improve handling and limit some of the body roll, especially with rear wheel drive. A Double Cab with a full eight foot bed is also available.
