Cargo space and power.  Toyota combines a powerful new V-8, a full length bed, and the simplified Regular Cab design to create Tundra for pickup traditionalists.  While this model offered a basic pickup configuration, the Tundra line had been completely restyled for 2007.  The already full size truck had grown in all directions, now stretching to over 19 feet.
A wider track gives the Tundra a more aggressive look, and also improves on-road handling.  The modest base trim finishes this model, and a eight foot bed is also added.
The 4x2 Regular Cab Tundras are available with a 4.0 liter V-6 and a 4.7 liter V-8.  Toyota has now added a 5.7 liter V-8: an all aluminum engine supported by the TRD Variable Valve Timing + intelligence technology.  This system has also been used by many new Lexus models to lower emissions and increase fuel economy, but it also boosts horsepower.  Toyota claims 381 horsepower and 401 pound-feet of torque.  The result is a 4900 pound pickup that speeds from 0 to 60 mph in under seven seconds, earns an ultra low emissions rating, and achieves 20 mpg average fuel economy.  This model will pull 10,800 pounds, when equipped with a special towing package.  A six speed automatic transmission comes standard with the 5.7 liter engine.
