2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT8 Summary

There's no need to try to deny what this trim is all about. That would be its engine, a 420-horsepower, 6.1-liter SRT Hemi. You might want to read that again: four-hundred-and-twenty horsepower.
That massive wonder is capable of doing 0 to 60 in under 5 seconds and has been clocked at 150 mph (the speedometer goes to 180). Although you probably won¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?t be taking yours on the Autobahn to push the Hemi¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?s limits any time soon, it's still fun to know what¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?s in there.
A high-performance 5-speed automatic transmission provides creamy-smooth transition from gear to gear, but don¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?t bother looking underneath for skid plates. That's right--there is a trade-off for all of that speed. The SRT8 is not an off-road champion; it does not carry The Jeep ¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?Trail Rated¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?¯¿½?? badge. Trail Rated uses a set array of tests, computerized as well as in nature, to certifiy that a Jeep vehicle is capable of each of five categories for off-road use: traction, ground clearance, maneuverability, articulation, and water fording. Nope, true to its name (SRT is Chryslerese for Street & Racing Technology), this is a street SUV.
But you and your passengers will enjoy creature comforts while you cruise down Stylin¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½? Street. The SRT8 comes with leather seats and a premium Boston Acoustics 6-CD in-dash changer with six speakers. You¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?ll be safe, too, with all of the lifesaving features, which range from air bags (including side-curtain units) to the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), which unites traction control, brake assist, and Electronic Roll Mitigation.
This highest-level trim is unique among Grand Cherokees in that many of the amenities that come as standard equipment on the Laredo, Limited, and Overland are bundled as a pricey options group. That group includes heated seats, rear-park assist, SmartBeam headlamps, the UConnect hands-free communications system, and remote starter, to name some of them. Here¯¿½??¢ï¿½?¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½??¯ï¿½?¿ï¿½?½?s another curious note: the power sunroof (included on the lower-priced Grand Cherokee trims) must be added as an option on the SRT8. Just as we told you, this trim is all about what's under the hood.
