2006 Chrysler Pacifica Touring AWD Summary

For 2006, the Chrysler Pacifica receives its first series of updates since its 2004 introduction.  The upscale crossover SUV receives some minor exterior styling adjustments for 2006, and more significant changes, namely a new engine, would follow in 2007.

There are six available Pacifica models for 2006, created through three trims each offered with as a 4x2 or 4x4.  Touring is the middle trim tier, adding items like third row seats, second row captain's chairs, a power seat for the driver, and automatic climate control to an already impressive list of standard features.  All models get full power accessories, keyless entry, cruise control and a CD audio system.  A DVD navigation system, Sirius, an Infinity sound system upgrade, and rear seat DVD entertainment are all optional.

The Pacifica is powered by a 3.5 liter DOHC V-6, which produces 250 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque.  A four-speed automatic is the transmission, regardless of the drive train.  This AWD model features a viscous-coupling center differential, which allows for a bulk of the power to be sent to either the front or rear wheels.

Consumers have found the Pacifica to be a fine alternative to the minivan.  The Touring trim offers seating for six, a 3500-pound towing capacity, and 92 cubic feet for cargo. Unfortunately, many long-term owners have also reported that the stylish and luxurious crossover SUV is still subject to Chrysler's build quality issues.  Fuel injection problems and excessive tire wear are common complaints.
