The 2006 Chrysler Pacifica entered its third year of production in 2006, differentiated from previous models by some minor exterior styling updates. The Pacifica is a unique type of crossover SUV. Unlike most crossovers, which are car-based, the Pacifica is minivan-based. Built from the same platform as the Town & Country, the SUV gets a long 116 inch wheelbase and a lower stance.
The base FWD model uses an older 3.8 liter V-6, but this AWD version is equipped with the same refined 3.5 liter DOHC V-6 as all higher level models. This engine generates 250 horsepower and 250 pound-feet of torque, and is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. The Pacifica's fuel economy is estimated at 17/23 mpg.
A unique viscous coupling system allows the driver to transfer power to the front or rear wheels, depending on preference and driving conditions.
The base model comes equipped with a CD audio system, keyless entry, and full power accessories. Options availability increases with the trim level. The base Pacifica offers seating for five, while other trims add a third row of seating.
