2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited Summary
With its classic Jeep good looks, four-wheel drive capability, and American-made pride, the Grand Cherokee Limited just might be the quintessential SUV. Neither an undersized crossover nor a one-digit mpg behemoth, it's a perfect fit for most 4x4 folks.
The 2007 Limited is available as a 4x2 or 4x4, and after making that simple decision you can choose your engine, either a 4.7-liter, 235-horsepower V6 or the optional 5.7-liter, 330-horsepower V8. The latter is a Multi Displacement Engine, meaning at highway cruising speeds it goes into conservation mode by shutting off half the cylinders. Jeep says this results in as much as a 20% boost in fuel economy.
Standard features consist of air conditioning with dual-zone climate control, a power sunroof, a Boston Acoustics audio system with 6-CD in-dash changer, remote starter, and heated leather seats, to name some. Another interesting standard feature is the SmartBeam headlamps, which automatically adjust their output according to available light and oncoming traffic. The Quadra-Trac II 4WD system comes standard, but the buyer may choose to upgrade to the Quadra-Drive II, which includes electronic limited slip differentials and maximized traction control, instead.
Not previously known for its safety, the Grand Cherokee now earns a perfect 5 stars from the NHTSA in its multiple crash tests. But state-of-the-art systems such as Electronic Stability Program (a cooperative system of traction control, electronic brake assistance, and roll mitigation) help to keep the vehicle from crashing in the first place.
