The Porsche 911 Carrera 4 sports coupe one-ups the standard Carrera with an intelligent four-wheel-drive system, which works in conjunction with Porsche's Stability Management Plus system to shorten stopping distances, especially in emergency situations.
The Carrera 4 is powered by a 3.6-liter, 325-horspower, flat six-cylinder engine with VarioCam Plus, which continually adjusts valve timing for optimal performance. Like all 911 engines, it's located in the rear of the vehicle.
The 911 Carrera 4 is available with either a six-speed manual transmission or a Tiptronic S automatic/manual transmission. With the manual transmission, the 911 Carrera can travel from 0 to 60 in 4.9 seconds. That rises to 5.3 seconds with the Tiptronic transmission.
Features of the 911 Carrera 4 include a three-spoke leather-wrapped steering wheel, a central locking system with exterior and interior alarms, power windows, heated exterior mirrors, footwell lighting, cruise control, an automatic climate control system with carbon filtering, and a Porsche Communication Management system with an in-dash CD player and nine speakers. Anti-lock braking, driver's and passenger seats with power backrests and integrated airbags, and dual front and side airbags are also part of the package.
