The SS is powered by a 6.0-liter V8 that produces 390 hp and 400 ft-lbs of torque and is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Off the line, the SS will reach 60 mph in just 6.3 seconds, and towing capacity is estimated at 6,800 pounds.
The performance-oriented SS models are differentiated by a sport-tuned suspension, larger brakes, 20-inch wheels, a limited-slip differential, faster-response steering, and special interior and exterior trim. Other standard features at the SS1 trim level include dual-zone air-conditioning, cruise control, full power accessories, OnStar, satellite radio, and a CD audio system.
