2007 Ford Edge SEL Summary
As the midline trim in Ford's new crossover SUV, the 2007 Ford Edge SEL offers a range of luxury touches as part of its standard equipment, as well as some attractively-priced special packages. Power-folding second-row seats, as well as six-position power-adjusted passenger seats, are part of a "Seating Flexibility Package"; for drivers needing even more cargo space, there's an option that adds extra storage underneath the back floor.
One of the appeals of the '07 Edge SEL is what's under the hood. The 3.5 liter V6 plant offers 265 horsepower and 250 lb.-ft. of torque; given the SEL's relatively light curbweight (4,195 pounds), that's plenty of power to zip along the highways. Of course, you won't be going off-road with the 2007 Edge SEL; you'll need its all-wheel-drive sibling to do that. The '07 Ford Edge SEL's front-wheel drive performs admirably on the road, though, and Ford's proprietary stability control systems make it a good choice for safety-minded buyers. The Ford Edge SEL is available with six-speed automatic transmission only.
Ford's put a lot of money into marketing this new crossover: only time will tell if the crossover utility vehicle succeeds in capturing a fuel-efficiency conscious market. Maybe the CUV will be tomorrowâ??s SUV? Who knows?
