2007 Jeep Commander Overland 4X4 Summary

The highly capable Jeep Commander Overland can only be considered fully outfitted if it has 4-wheel drive. And the way this baby looks, it just wouldn't be fair to keep it on pavement.
The Overland 4x4's 5.7-liter HEMI V8 delivers 330 horsepower and 375 lb.-feet of torque, making it pretty peppy for a squared-off SUV. With its low vibration rate, the big engine is remarkably quiet - and that's not even its most notable quality.
That would be its status as a Multi Displacement Engine, meaning during gentle acceleration and at highway cruising speed (40 to 60 mph) it goes into conservation mode by shutting off half the cylinders. Jeep says this results in as much as a 20% boost in fuel economy. Hey, if you can deal with driving 60 on the highway, any little bit helps.
The Overland 4x4 offers all of the luxuries of the Limited trim, plus a standard power-liftgate, chrome wheels (an upgrade to 18-inchers is available), There's also an upgrade from the ParkSense rear-park assist to the ParkView system, which uses a camera and display rather than simply audiovisual alerts and works in conjunction with the DVD-based navigation system (also standard).
The Bluetooth-compatible UConnect hands-free communications system is included as well. Remote start comes standard, and the keys are encrypted with Sentry Key chips to deter theft.
Purely aesthetic upgrades include a leather-wrapped steering wheel and gearshift knob, plus leather door-pulls. There are also some wood accents inside, plus two-tone leather upholstery with suede panels as well as Berber floor mats. Platinum accents and Overland and HEMI badging complete the visual pleasure.
There doesn't seem to be anything missing with the Overland. It comes with a Class IV Trailer Tow package, with which the 4x4 can pull up to 7200 pounds. The 4WD system is the Quadra-Drive II, which maximizes convenience, as it can be kept engaged full-time, even on dry roads. It boasts an electronically-controlled clutch pack and electronic limited-slip differentials that can transfer the full amount of torque to any wheel as needed.
The Overland comfortably seats seven. The second and third rows of seats split and fold flat when needed for cargo rather than passengers, and a cargo net is included.
