Each of the three 4Runner trim levels is available in four variations.  Each comes as either a 4x4 or 4x2, with a V-6 or V-8 engine.  This 4x2 SR5 adds a V-8.  This engine's 260 horsepower and 306 pound-feet of torque is most recognizable in initial acceleration and overall towing capacity.  The 4x2 and V-8 combination begets the quickest 4Runners, and towing capacity jumps from 5000 to 7300 pounds.
On this Toyota model, SR5 is considered the base level trim.  It is still very well equipped.  Automatic climate control, CD player, all power features, and keyless entry all come standard.  Options include a DVD-based navigation system, Bluetooth capability, a ten speaker JBl audio upgrade, rear backup camera, and a rear seat DVD entertainment system.  A third row of seating is also available.
Toyota also includes nearly every available safety feature with every 4Runner variation.  The Star Safety System includes Toyota developments like Vehicle Stability Control + Traction Control, ABS with Electronic Brake-force Distribution, and Brake Assist.  Side impact airbags and daytime running lights are the only items left as optional.
