2006 Ford Taurus SEL

The final year of of the current generation of Ford Taurus, the SEL is the more luxurious version of the front-wheel drive, mid-sized family sedan.  No longer available in a wagon or with the Duratec engine, the 2006 Taurus SEL features a 3.0-liter, 153-hp V6 and 4-speed automatic.  A flex fuel version is also available.  Dual front airbags, rear drum and front disc brakes, intermittent wipers, and 16-inch wheels come standard, but front-side airbags, ABS brakes, automatic headlights, and traction control are optional.  An SEL-only standard feature is an auto-dimming rearview mirror.

Besides the full complement of power features, wheel-mounted cruise control, a trip computer, and security system, the 2006 Taurus SEL adds more upscale wood trim for the interior, a 6-way power driver's seat, a CD player, and remote garage opener.  Bundled packages add on a CD changer, leather seats, a power passenger seat, and automatic climate control.  Other options include heated mirrors, a sunroof, and a rear spoiler.  Owners like the dependability, smooth ride, and interior comfort of the plain, but practical 2006 Taurus SEL.  The extra features at an affordable price are also attractive.  Downsides include an underpowered engine with sluggish acceleration and rapid depreciation in value.
