[Edit] In 2001, the LS became the base model Astro, no longer the midgrade between base model (STD) and luxury (LT). However, the Astro LS retained its bells and whistles.
Chevrolet's 2001 upgrades for the Astro LS included a premium audio system, an anti-theft alarm system, and light-sensitive headlights that automatically turned on when needed, among other features.
In 2001, Chevrolet added leather seates, audio controls for passengers in the rear, and a locking rear differential as some of its options for the Astro LS.
2001 Chevy Astro LS drivers say they love its versatility, spaciousness, and comfort, but some drivers say many items on the interior are cheaply made and that the van is in the shop too often for problems with the rear suspension, fuel pump, brakes, and other parts.
