The PreRunner is a unique variation of Toyota's capable and durable truck.  These models all ride on a 4x2 drive train, but a rugged 4x4-like suspension system has been included.  The PreRunners are also finished with a more aggressive look.  However, this is an appearance designation more than it is a trim level, with standard features still largely dependent on the cab size.
Double Cab models offer the most comprehensive standard equipment list, including a CD audio system, full size spare, air conditioning, keyless entry, and full power accessories.  Tacoma trucks with this cab configuration are also eligible for a premium JBL sound system upgrade.
Toyota's 4.0 liter DOHC V-6 provides 236 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque, which gets sent to the rear wheels on all PreRunner models. The sporting orientation is backed up here by an 8.8 second 0-60 mph time.  Although this PreRunner is not intended for the traditional truck duties, it will still tow 6500 pounds.
