1993 Lexus SC 300 2 Dr STD Coupe

The SC 300 was largely unchanged for 1993, as passenger-side airbags and an automatic headlamp system were the only new features.  This new Lexus coupe aimed to compete with the BMW 8-Series and Mercedes SLs, despite its lower price.  However, the SC was much more a Lexus than it was a performance coupe.  Like other Lexus models, it was frequently targeted by critics as being actually too refined for real turn-hugging excitement.
At the very least, the SC 300 was fast.  The potent straight-six engine's 225 horses pulled the 3494 pound coupe from 0 to 60 in 6.8 seconds.  The 2+2 body could seat four adults, but back seat space was a bit tight.  The engine was teamed with 5-speed manual transmission, but this version was always limited in production and difficult to find.
Many SCs are now reaching 150,000 and 200,000 miles, and owners rarely report any significant issues. They continue to praise the overall fit and finish of the SC, and there is much appreciation for its reliability.  The coupe is laden with convenience features like a telescoping steering wheel that movers out of the way upon entry and exit.  Its less than economical gas mileage, at 18/23 mpg, was the most frequent owner complaint.
