The 2004 Chrysler PT Cruiser Limited is one of just three models to retain the very modestly powered 2.4 liter inline four engine. However, for this model year Chrysler has added a new turbo option for both the Touring and Limited trims. Also new this year exclusively on the Limited is the Chrome Accent Group option package, which adds a chrome fuel door, chrome exterior trim, and a metallic finished shifter and pedals.
The Limited is similarly equipped to the less expensive Touring trim, but a few additions set the two apart. Both come standard with fog lamps, anti-theft, cruise control, full power accessories, privacy glass, and a CD/cassette audio system. The Limited adds a power moon roof, leather seating, chrome wheels, a power driver's seat and side airbags.
The Limited PT is powered by the original 2.4 liter DOHC four cylinder engine, which generates 150 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque. A five-speed manual transmission comes standard with this engine option, and fuel economy is estimated at 22/29 mpg.
The new turbocharged engine is a $1200 option, for those who'd like to travel from 0 to 60 mph in less than ten seconds.
