The LS extended cab with four-wheel drive is powered by a 4.8 liter V8, which makes 285 horsepower and is paired with a four-speed automatic transmission. Chevy claims a maximum towing capacity of 8000 pounds with this power plant.

Silverado's second tier LS (or LS1) trim is differentiated from the base level Work Truck by the addition of cruise control, a CD player and deluxe cloth upholstery. This 4x4 may also be equipped with an optional off-road package, adding a heavier-duty suspension and skid plates.
