[Edit] In an attempt to catch up to the Civic and the Corolla, Volkswagen gave its Jetta midsize sedan a makeover in '08. First off, the Jetta did away with the 2.0-liter turbo 4 engine and moved to a 2.5-liter, 170-hp inline-five engine. You'll have your pick between 5- or 6-speed automatic and 6 speed manual transmissions.
The Jetta comes in 6 trims, has 4 doors, and seats 5. Some cool new options include a sunroof, 17-inch wheels, and a 250-watt sound system. While you don't get leather seats anymore, you do get standard power seat recliners.
So what do the critics have to say about the '08 VW Jetta? It certainly looks more stylish, and the exterior updates certainly did its body good. On the other hand, a V6 engine certainly wouldn't hurt. All in all, look for the 2008 VW Jetta to put a stylish new twist on an old standby.
