[Edit] The all-new 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer compact sedan has received rave reviews, and with good reason. It brings a heritage of nearly 30 years of international rally competition to the streets of the 21st century, giving drivers a nearly unmatched street racer with dynamic lines, a snappy engine, and numerous cutting-edge features.
It all starts with the styling, and there's no doubt that the 2008 Lancer, from its shark-nosed grille to its aerodynamic body cladding to its color-keyed rear spoiler, is a lean, mean driving machine. And it has an engine to match - an all-new, all-aluminum 2.0-liter MIVEC (Mitsubishi Innovative Valve-timing Electronic Control) four-cylinder powerplant that delivers 152 horsepower. Add a sport-oriented suspension and a standard five-speed manual overdrive transmission or the optional Sportronic CVT (continously variable transmission) with steering-wheel-mounted magnesium paddle shifters, and you have a package that defines sport driving.
The 2008 Lancer also comes with a seven-airbag safety system, including advanced dual-stage front airbags, as well as anti-lock brakes with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, which deliver optimal performance in any condition. Other features include integrated fog lamps and a 140-watt four-speaker AM/FM stereo system with a CD player and MP3-player input.
Options include a one-touch power sunroof, a high-definition DVD-based 30-gigabyte navigation system with a color LCD touch screen, a FAST Key auto-sensing remote door-unlocking and keyless ignition system, and Bluetooth hands-free phone interface.
The 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer is available in three trims, including the entry-level Lancer DE, the mid-level Lancer ES, and the high-end Lancer GTS, which comes with sport bucket seats, automatic climate control, power windows and door locks, a leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, and auto-off halogen headlights.
