[Edit] Whether this will be a 2008 or 2009 Pontiac GTO remains to be seen, but strong rumor has it that the GTO will make a return after its 2006 demise, this time with the all-new rear-wheel drive Zeta platform that Pontiac is also using on its 2008 G8 sedan.
The 2008 GTO will be a two-door coupe, although there is some talk of also making a four-door coupe, to the dismay of many street racing enthusiasts. The lines will be cleaner and simpler than the current GTO, but feature a fastback roof and dual hood scoops. The wheelbase will also be longer, though the actual car length will be slightly shorter. Most likely it will retain the current 6.0-liter, 400-hp V8 LS2 engine.
Though some spy shots have disappointed GTO fans in terms of its not so thrilling exterior, the new Zeta platform should help improve handling and stability, improving overall drive performance.
