Since it went through a major overhaul in 2006, there were few changes made to the 2007 Subaru Impreza. Available as a four-door compact sedan or wagon, the Impreza features a wide range of engine options to suit everyone from commuters to racing enthusiasts. All Imprezas feature a 2.5-liter, flat-4 engine. Base models get 173 horsepower with a naturally aspirated version, while the jazzier WRX gets 224 hp, and the road-burning WRX STi gets 293 hp. All feature either a 5-speed manual or 4-speed auto transmission, except for the STi, which comes only with a 6-speed manual.
The 2007 Impreza is an all-wheel-drive vehicle, with ABS and front and side-impact airbags standard across the line. The newest addition in 2007 is a WRX STi Limited sedan or wagon, combining performance power with a more luxurious interior. Heated leather seats, a sunroof, and window de-icer are included. The WRX STi Limited also toned down the ultra-sporty exterior of the original STi by ditching the roof spoiler and making the rear spoiler more subtle. It hasn't lost its dual hood scoops, wide vents, and 17-inch alloy performance tires, however, so you'll still turn heads as you take those tight turns at top speeds.
Great performance, even in the non-turbo Imprezas, and responsive handling are key attributes of the 2007 Subaru Impreza. There's no doubt that WRX and STi owners love the speed and instant acceleration action of their sports cars. Little turbo lag is reported. The all-wheel-drive capability is first-rate and much appreciated up north. So-so gas mileage in the turbos, a cramped backseat, and a bad sound system are the major complaints.
