[Edit] Essentially a holdover from last year, the 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix adds some minor features, but doesn't tinker with too much in its mid-size sports sedan. New in 2007 are standard power seats and a tire pressure monitor. The sexy GXP racer gets standard heated leather seats and the fold-down front passenger seat.
Though it's built as a large sedan, practical for family use, the small backseat, sloping roofline, and powerful V6 and V8 engines in the 2007 Grand Prix give away its true ambition as a wannabe sports car. The base model features a 200-hp 3.8-liter V6, while the GT has a supercharged version at 260-hp. The GXP blows by both of these with its 5.3-liter, 303-hp V8, stiffer suspension, performance tires, TAPshift gear controls, Stabilitrack system, and the displacement-on-demand feature, which cuts off four cylinders at cruising speeds. OnStar is available across the line, as are most power features, and a driver's information center, but ABS and traction are standard only on GT and GXP. A unique heads-up display which projects info onto the windshield, is standard only on the GXP.
Power and handling are highly rated by 2007 Grand Prix owners. Even the V6 provides a fun ride. They also love the sleek exterior styling, the standard bells and whistles, and the large trunk. Plastic interior parts detract from the luxury styling. Rear legroom is still cramped, and headroom is compromised when you get the sunroof. Gas mileage is not as good as reported, and a manual transmission is keenly desired.
