The 2007 Ford Shelby GT500 is a powerful pony car for the 21st century. Carroll Shelby and the good people at Shelby Automotive have partnered with the Ford Special Vehicle Team to create a high-tech muscle car with a streamlined racetrack feel; this is the most powerful factory-built Mustang ever offered. Ever.
Under the hood, you'll find a supercharged 5.4 liter, 32-valve V8 engine capable of 450 horsepower. The engine is based on the Triton, but sleeked down with aluminum heads and unique camshafts. The '07 Ford Shelby GT500 has other high-performance goodies, including a high-capacity cooling system, air intake, and radiator. The folks on the Ford SVT have really pulled out all the stops on this one.
The '07 Shelby GT500 is available as a convertible and as a coupe. Its aerodynamic design and distinctive rocker stripes say "Shelby", but the pricetag is surprisingly affordable. This car is the successor to the Cobra SVT, and you'll see some people refer to it as the 2007 Ford Shelby Cobra GT500.
