CarGurus' 1996 Mercedes-Benz S600 Review

Mercedes-Benz made no cosmetic changes to its premier S600 in the 1996 model year. But there were ample changes that impacted the car's safety and handling in a positive manner.

Most notably, the German automaker added a new five-speed automatic to shift the car's 389 horsepower, V12 engine. Other additions included Electronic Stability Protection, a standard power glass sunroof and smog-sensing climate control system.

Drivers had few complaints, even after grumbling about a steep price tag. There were also some complaints about steep depreciation in the after market, particularly after the introduction of a completely redesigned S600 in the 2000 model year.
