New, new, new. Power says it all.
Although the body is a carryover from 2005, the 2006 Mercedes Benz C230 now comes standard with a 2.5-liter, V6, engine that produces 201 horsepower and gets in the 20s for gas mileage, a bit on the short side for most compact cars, but not too bad for a near-luxury model. The transmission, a 6-speed manual transmission with overdrive, is standard, but you can get a 7-speed auto as an option.
Cons include a lack of accessories, such as no Bluetooth and no 3.5 mm jacks for MP3 players, but just about everyone we talked to loved the improved acceleration and the really comfortable drive.
