CarGurus' 1995 Volkswagen Jetta Review

Volkswagen expanded the Jetta lineup for 1995 with the addition of two new trim packages, the Jetta City and the Jetta Celebration. Both came with a 115-horsepower, 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that was also dropped into the base Jetta, the Jetta GL, and the Jetta GLS trim packages. And both the City and the Celebration were stripped-down models with lowered sticker prices and a limited set of standard features.

Standard features for the Jetta GL included power steering, power brakes, power door locks, air conditioning, a rear window defroster, dual airbags, an anti-theft alarm system, and an AM/FM/cassette audio system. The Jetta GLS added power windows and a sunroof. A GLX package was also available. It came with a 172-horsepower V6 engine and such features as anti-lock brakes.

The Jetta's handling, roominess, and power were cited as positive points by drivers, but some also noted that their cars needed frequent repairs, which could be expensive.
