[Edit] The 2006 Toyota Rav4 featured a complete redesign. No longer is the little SUV a, um, little SUV. It grew in length by over half a foot, and a third row bench seat is now available.
Reviewers saw a large difference between the available engines. The 3.5-liter V6 rated at 269 horsepower earned rave reviews, while the 2.4-liter I4 with 166 horses was described as "sluggish."
The interior is comfortable, and optional leather makes it feel almost luxurious while giving the driver the ruggedness required for winter driving.
The transmission is lousy.
