With the 2005 model year, BMW took on an ambitious - and controversial - overhaul of its popular 5-series cars, including the lineup's most popular model, the 530. While purists grumbled, most reviewers and drivers seemed to like the new look and feel of the 530, with one going as far as calling it "easily the best sedan BMW has ever made."
The performance of the 530 is legendary, complete with a 225-horsepower engine. And while some still bicker about the Microsoft-powered iDrive software, there are technological features that make driving easier. Most notably is the 530's active steering, which minimizes turns to make everyday tasks like u-turns and parallel parking a snap.
