The 2005 model year saw the introduction of a "slightly roomier" 320 to the BMW 3-series line up. "It is a better drive than the car it replaces and we have become more accepting of the styling from a design school that seemed confronting when BMW first went down the blockhouse line with the 7-Series," one reviewer wrote.
Indeed, once seen as an entry level car, the 320 became a popular choice for BMW enthusiasts who scoffed at the flashy redesigns hitting 5-series and 7-series cars in the middle of this decade. The 320's conservative styling did not impact performance, as the 320 still has a six cylinder engine and plenty of torque.
That's not to say the 320 is staid or even boring to look at: "The new look sets it apart from showroom rivals and tells everyone, even from a distance, that this is the new Three, not just another of the older me-too cars," according to one happy owner.
