Like all 3-Series vehicles, the 1995 BMW 318s "shine brightest in their sporty handling characteristics," according to one test driver. The car's four-cylinder, 136 horsepower engine was a hit among drivers who liked compact cars that handle well.
There were few changes to the 318 in the 1995 model year. Late in the year BMW introduced a new trim for the 318. The 318ti was a low-budget hatchback with a closely related engine but a completely different appearance to the standard 318 offerings.
1995 was also the last year the 318 was built with a 1.8 liter engine, as BMW would opt for a 1.9 liter engine in later models.
