The Toyota Tacoma was just redesigned the year before, so the 2006 Tacoma saw very few changes. New safety equipment was introduced, and a service reminder indicator was added to all models.
The 2006 Toyota comes in a huge array of trims. Four body styles are available and include the standard cab with a long bed, the Access cab with a long bed, the Double Cab with a short bed, and a Double Cab with a long bed. The regular cab comes with very few options. The Access Cab and Double Cabs come as a 2WD, 4WD, or 4WD V6. Other trims include the PreRunner, which is a 2WD that is high off the ground like a 4WD, and the X Runner, which is a sport tuned Tacoma. The base engine is a 2.7-liter 164 horsepower four-cylinder, and the V6 has 4 liters and puts out 245 horsepower. Fuel economy is about 19/23 to 16/20, depending on the engine and configuration.
Drivers of the 2006 Toyota Tacoma are enthusiastic about the car’s improved power, interior room, and bed length. Some say the price is too high, especially with added convenience features, and others say the stock tires are not the best for the truck.
