Preview of 2010 Hummer H3T

Hummer makes only a few minor updates to the Hummer H3T sport utility truck for 2010. The automaker adds FlexFuel capability to the H3T's 5.3-liter V8 engine, which powers the top-of-the-line H3T Alpha trim. In addition, Hummer offers the H3T in three new exterior colors for 2010, including Red Rock Metallic, Silver Stone Metallic, and Canyon Metallic.

Named Four Wheeler Magazine's 2009 Pickup Truck of the Year, the Hummer H3T combines both five-passenger seating and a highly versatile 5-foot cargo bed, which offers 33.5 cubic feet of storage space. Owners can configure and personalize the cargo bed using more than 125 dealer-installed accessories. For instance, bikers and kayakers can install a roof rack on the H3T, while snowboarders can add a slant-back hard shell that covers the H3T's cargo bed, providing a place to stow and protect their gear. Skiers can add a rack system designed to transport skis, while campers can opt for a bed-mounted tent system. Numerous storage compartments and lockable storage boxes add to the H3T's functionality.

The H3T comes in Base, Adventure, Luxury, and Alpha trims for 2010. A 3.7-liter inline Vortec five-cylinder engine, producing 239 horsepower and 241 pound-feet of torque, powers all trims except the Alpha, which is powered by a 300-hp, FlexFuel-capable V8. The five-cylinder powerplant links to a five-speed manual transmission in the Base and Adventure trims, while the Alpha comes standard with a Hydra-Matic four-speed automatic transmission. The Luxury trim comes with either the manual or automatic transmission. All five-cylinder trims can tow up to 3,000 pounds with the manual transmission and 4,500 pounds with the automatic, while the V8-powered Alpha can tow up to 6,000 pounds.

Standard features for all H3T trims include Bluetooth wireless technology, cruise control, power windows and door locks, a Driver Information Center, air conditioning, a 60/40-split fold-down rear seat, and an electrochromic rear-view mirror with a compass, outside temperature display, and OnStar controls. Exterior features include foglights, power-adjustable exterior mirrors, halogen headlights, and a one-piece rear swing gate.

The H3T Adventure, designed for rugged off-roading, adds an Off-Road Suspension Package, which includes front and rear fully locking electronic differentials, a 4.03:1 two-speed transfer case, and beefy 16-inch all-terrain tires, all designed to handle rugged off-roading. The Luxury trim, geared toward comfortable cruising, adds such upscale amenities as leather upholstery, heated eight-way power-adjustable front seats with lumbar support, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel. The Alpha trim, designed for high performance as well as upscale comfort, also offers leather seating, heated power-adjustable front seats, and a leather-wrapped steering wheel, in addition to its V8 engine.

The Base H3 comes with an AM/FM audio system with a CD player, while the other trims upgrade to an in-dash 6-CD changer. XM satellite radio comes standard on all trims, while features such as navigation (via an upgraded OnStar system) and a rear-view camera system remain options for all trims.

Safety and performance-related features for all 2010 H3T trims include the StabiliTrak electronic stability system, power-assisted rack-and-pinion steering, traction control, four-wheel antilock brakes, and full-time four-wheel drive. Dual front airbags and head curtain side-impact airbags with a rollover sensing system also come standard on the H3T.
