CarGurus' 2005 Ford Ranger Review

The 2005 Ford Ranger is a well-equipped compact pickup truck that offers a broad range of trims and configurations.  Buyers have a choice of two-door and four-door bodystyles, two-wheel and front-wheel drive, standard cab and extended cab supercab configurations, short-bed and long-bed setups: it's a wealth of choices, with something for everybody!

Trims available are the XL, XLT, STX, FX4, and Edge. The Edge is probably the most distinctive trims offered for the 2005 Ranger.  This trim, targeted at younger drivers, puts a bunch of tuner-style features into one convenient package.  The Edge trim includes chrome 16-inch wheels and a high-end stereo package, as well as some exterior touches that give the boxy Ranger pickup a more streetworthy style.

The '05 Ranger has plenty of power under the hood.  The base engine is a 2.3 liter, dual overhead cam inline-4, delivering 143 horsepower and 154 lb.-ft. of torque.  Drivers looking for more muscle can upgrade to a 3.0 liter OHV V6 (148 horsepower, 180 lb.-ft. of torque), or a 4.0 liter single overhead cam V-6 with an impressive 207 horsepower and 238 lb.-ft. of torque.
