Starter doesn't seem to "release" and causes a loud grinding noise for a second or two...

Dealership replaced starter...no change...sounds like the starter motor gear is not dis-engaging from the fly wheel for a brief moment...makes loud screeching noise for a second or two...didn't do it when it was new...just started a few months ago...dealership says it can't be fixed...live with it...nonsense!! Solenoid...starter relay...ignition switch??? It's making me nuts!! :)
