I switched out the starter on my 03 mitsubishi eclipse gt and it won't start, why?

I'm assuming the battery is good. If so make sure the battery relay or starter relay of fuse is good. also their is a rotor inside the distributer cap that can cause it not to start sometimes, replaced the rotor on your type of car and it fixed the problem just some friendly advise
