How do I reattach overdrive knob to shifter stalk?

I have an 08 ford fiesta zetec and the trip reset button on the end of my indicator stalk is not scrolling through the functions; mpg, miles until empty, etc. Just wondering is this is due to a loose wire/faulty switch, or could it be something else? Thanks 4 answers
